The Arcade Fire é uma banda de indie rock da cidade de Montereal, Canadá. Fundada em 2003, a banda é constituída por: Win Butler e Régine Chassagne (casal), Richard Reed Parry, Tim Kingsbury, Sarah Neufeld, Jeremy Gara e Will (irmão de Win). A banda é conhecida pelas suas apresentações ao vivo, como também pelo uso de um grande número de instrumentos musicais: guitarra, bateria, baixo, piano, violino, viola, violoncelo, xilofone, teclado, acordeão e harpa.

O primeiro álbum da banda - Funeral - foi lançado em Setembro de 2004 no Canadá e cinco meses depois na Europa. O título foi escolhido devido ao falecimento de alguns familiares de integrantes da banda durante a sua gravação, o que criou uma atmosfera sombria que influenciou canções como "Une année sans lumière", "In the backseat" e "Haiti".
David Bowie ouviu a banda e chamou a atenção das gravadoras para o seu potencial. A banda também chamou muito a atenção dos U2 que os convidaram para abrir espectáculos no Canadá e acabaram por eleger a canção "Wake up" como tema de abertura da digressão Vertigo Tour (2005-2007).
O segundo álbum Neon Bible foi gravado numa igreja comprada pelos próprios integrantes, motivado pela melhor acústica e lançado em 2006.

Emilíana Torrini, nascida a 16 de Maio de 1977, é uma cantora islandesa. Filha de pai italiano e mãe islandesa, aos 7 anos entrou num coro como soprana até entrar numa escola de ópera aos 15 anos. Em 1994 ficou conhecida no seu país natal após ter ganho um concurso musical.

Torrini cantou a canção Gollum's Song, a última do filme de Peter Jackson "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers", depois de Björk se afastar devido à sua gravidez.
Já colaborou com diversos artistas, nomeadamente Kylie Minogue.

O último álbum, Me and Armini, está a ter uma boa aceitação do público, apesar da cantora contar já com 7 álbuns, 3 deles na sua lingua materna.
